A new rumor is circulating on the Internet and again it is about the release of the Nintendo Switch 2. It is said that the new console will be released shortly after the official announcement. Of course, the information should be treated with caution this time too, because the Japanese company has of course not confirmed the information. Over the course of the year, numerous rumors have emerged, especially about the release of the Switch 2 - ultimately, it will be unclear whether the information is correct until the actual reveal.
At least Nintendo seems to be moving toward the release, otherwise the company would not have confirmed that the announcement will take place during the current fiscal year. Nintendo's plans must therefore be very concrete.
Nintendo Switch 2 unveiling in January?
This time the rumor comes from "Nintendo Prime". And the information initially relates primarily to the announcement. This should come sometime in January 2025. Is that true? Unclear. But it seems possible, because Nintendo itself has scheduled the announcement for March 31, 2025 at the latest.
The rumor also states that the console manufacturer wants to bring the successor to market shortly after the reveal. March of next year is mentioned. This is also a very possible version of the release plans. After all, Nintendo is known for making surprise announcements and then making them available to fans as soon as possible.
Nintendo would not be harmed by a short-term release either – after all, the Nintendo Switch received many good reviews and had a lasting impact on the gaming scene. The Japanese company will have to invest significantly less effort in marketing to boost sales of the Nintendo Switch 2. It is more likely that the console will sell itself, as millions of fans around the world have been eagerly awaiting its release for many months. There is therefore no need for an extensive lead time for advertising campaigns, which certainly allows for a surprise release.
In marketing, you will be able to concentrate on the technical innovations or the game lineup in order to set the tone in advertising. If the Nintendo Switch 2 is a significantly more powerful version of the original console, it shouldn't be difficult for Nintendo to communicate this effectively in advertising.
One detail in Nintendo's schedule makes a release in March uncertain. Xenoblade Chronicles X - Definitive Edition will be released on March 20, 2025. It seems extremely unlikely that this popular title for the Nintendo Switch will be released in the same month as the Switch 2.
