Last December it was called “Game Over” at the Austrian start-up “Rudy Games”, and with an adapted business model, a new team and female power, the new start with Gamelab is now successful.
In the case of Rudy Games there is a happy ending. The publisher with a penchant for hybrid games – including Leaders and Crazy Driver – is now moving on to the board game market, albeit with a corporate change. The start-up had one in December of all days and just before Christmas last year have to file for bankruptcy.
At the beginning of the year, the assets of Rudy Games were taken over by the newly founded Gamelab GmbH. Carina Schmiedseder was appointed as the new managing director. The Upper Austrian has many years of experience in online marketing and a lot of start-up experience.
“I got to know and love Rudy Games and the team around Manfred Lamplmair years ago at a startup event. Since I enjoy playing with my family and friends, I am particularly pleased to continue the “Rudy Games” brand,” says Carina Schmiedseder. Also on the team is Gertrude Kurzmann, who co-founded Rudy Games at the time.
“After the smooth takeover of the games, apps and software, I am particularly pleased to further expand sales,” Schmiedseder continued. With Pegasus we already have an established and competent partner to be able to serve specialist toy retailers well.
According to the publisher, nothing will change for players, especially leaders. The opposite is even the case: The apps will continue to be maintained and expanded. The service including WhatsApp support is still available without restrictions and free of charge.
And: Fans of the game titles from Rudy Games can expect new games in the next few weeks.
