The new Cyberpunk 2077 board game from Go On Board is obviously very well received by fans: the campaign literally exploded shortly after its launch. The funding goal was reached within ten minutes.
Admittedly, reaching the funding target within a few minutes is more of a marketing gimmick for projects involving such popular brands, and publishers plan for it in their communications - at least if the campaign goes as planned. This was obviously the case with Cyberpunk 2077 - The Board Game. Less than 24 hours after the start of the crowdfunding, publisher Go On Board is approaching the two million US dollar mark with its idea. That's still not enough to make it into the top ten on Gamefound; fans would have to pump at least 3,7 million euros into the board game to make it into the top ten Gamefound titles, but the campaign runs until September 20th. Only then will the bill be settled. The publisher could certainly manage it, because with The Witcher: Path of Destiny, a board game based on CD Project Red's Witcher video games, Go On Board has made it to third place in the list of the best, which is mainly dominated by Awaken Realms.
Cyberpunk 2077: Board game has many fans
At least in terms of interest, the new board game is Cyberpunk 2077, which according to the Polish publisher was created in collaboration with CD Projekt Red, is pretty high up: the campaign had over 60.000 followers, so it's not surprising that the funding goal was reached so quickly. Only Nemesis: Retaliation had previously managed to inspire more fans in advance. However, that board game also owes its top ranking to its outstanding predecessor.
That's exactly what was different with Cyberpunk 2077. Although there is already a board game, it doesn't go down quite as well with fans. Cyberpunk – Gangs of Night City by CMON is not a bad game, but the expansions are absolutely necessary to make it really fun. This is reflected in high costs. The concept of an area control process also met with criticism from players - they would have liked a less interchangeable game idea and a clearer focus on the stories from the cyberpunk capital. This is exactly what Go On Board is now delivering and it hits a nerve. Well-known characters from the video game template, a role-playing-like equipment system, varied missions and thus a high degree of variance, which according to Go On Board should lead to "infinite replayability", are the anchor points of the new board game for Cyberpunk 2077.

The title is also attractively priced as part of the crowdfunding campaign: the board game is no bargain at around 150 euros for the deluxe version, but the features are impressive. Overall, the price is within the usual market range for board games of this kind. However, there is also the shipping cost of around 23 euros.
Nevertheless, Go On Board has opted for a realistic calculation; the crowdfunding for Cyberpunk 2077 - The Board Game is not one of the often unpopular cash-in campaigns. Everyone has to decide for themselves whether the analog game is worth the asking price - but in terms of the material, you get what you would pay for other titles of this format.
The Crowdfunding campaign started on September 3rdFans now have until the 20th of the month to consider joining the campaign. According to the publisher, shipping will take place in two waves and should begin in December 2025. Go On Board will initially serve supporters of the English version of the board game, followed by deliveries of other language versions around three months later. The good news for fans in this country: Cyberpunk 2077 - The Board Game will be released in German. The planned delivery should therefore take place in spring 2026.
