Publisher Electronic Arts has partnered with Marvel. As part of a “long-term” plan, they want to develop at least three new action-adventure video games that will be available for consoles and PC.
Each of the games will have its own original story in the Marvel universe, Electronic Arts said. The first title, already in development, is a single-player game in a third-person perspective. The focus is on Iron Man. Motive Studios is responsible for the implementation. Electronic Arts once again confirms the already known news about such a game.
Iron Man game: EA eager for fan reactions
"We're long-time fans of Marvel and their impressive leadership, so this is a remarkable moment for our developers, as well as for our players and fans," said Laura Miele, COO at EA. She looks forward to welcoming Marvel to the EA family.
Miele speaks of “extraordinary experiences2 that arise through the partnership between Electronic Arts and Marvel would be realized. “We can’t wait to see players’ reactions as they step into the role of Iron Man and do the extraordinary things this superhero is known for,” said Miele
Of course, Marvel is also excited about the deal: “At Marvel, we strive to find and collaborate with top-notch teams that can take our characters on heroic journeys in a way they have never done before Electronic Arts will help us with that,” said Jay Ong, Executive Vice President at Marvel Games. It is now about creating something “unique and truly remarkable”. The team at Motive begins their Iron Man video game. Fans can therefore expect some details in the future – the game is already in development.
For the story of the Iron Man game, they want to focus on the character behind Iron Man aka Tony Stark. It's about channeling the "complexity, charisma and creative genius of Tony Stark" - players should feel what it's like to really play as Iron Man.
The team will be led by Olivier Proulx, who has experience working on previous Marvel titles such as Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. He is supported in the studio by a dedicated team of industry veterans including Ian Frazier, Maëlenn Lumineau and JF Poirier.
Neither Electronic Arts nor Marvel revealed anything about the at least two other new action-adventure video games in the announcement. Fans obviously have to be patient here.
