Nimalia, on the other hand, is a small-format, family-level tile-laying game with a card drafting mechanism in which players create their own animal reserve.
My Lil' Everdell is a new standalone title set in the peaceful Everdell world. While the connoisseur's game is primarily suitable for people with a little more gaming experience, My Lil' Everdell also offers families a gentle introduction to the gaming world. The Everdell expansions Pearlbrook, Bellfaire and Spirecrest have also already appeared in this.
Simpler Everdell with modified rules
By modifying the Everdell rules, My Lil' Everdell by James and Clarissa A. Wilson is already aimed at up to four players aged eight and over. Your goal is to build the most beautiful city by collecting resources, settling animals and building structures. In order to collect the three resources - berries, twigs and resin - they go to different spaces of the game board with their wooden animal figures. In contrast to the Kenner game, the fields change through the use of resource dice in each of the four rounds.
A parade is held at the end of the day. If you have fulfilled the conditions of the parade cards, you get extra points. Getting started with the game is very easy thanks to short rules and a game is played quickly with 20 to 40 minutes. In addition to a solo variant, My Lil' Everdell also contains the kindergarten expansion for the Everdell base game.
Animal fun at Nimalia
William Liévin's Nimalia is also beastly. Here, the needs of the animals are paramount: they should live in harmony with each other in the newly established animal reserve. In order to achieve this, there are various requirements that two to four players try to implement. They are dealt three cards per turn and choose one to place in their reserve. The remaining cards are passed on. The first card of the game is simply laid out, each additional card must cover a part of the reserve already laid out. However, the maximum size of six rows and columns must not be exceeded.
In each game, four of the eleven task cards are chosen, of which only certain ones are scored in each of the five rounds. This results in new combinations of tasks in each game, which ensures a high level of replayability and always new tactical challenges. At the same time, thanks to short rules, Nimalia is already suitable for families with children from the age of eight and the small box format invites you to take it with you when travelling.
