At Magic the Gathering, Wizards of the Coast are once again releasing information about a crossover. This time it's about a license no less than that of Marvel. The popular trading card game is expanded to include another universe.

Great competition from 2024
From 2024 onwards, Wizards of the Coast will step directly into the ring with two young heavyweights on the TCG market: Star Wars Unlimited and Disney Lorcan. The latter game is already on the market, but is expected to gain momentum again with the release of the second wave from mid-November and the reprint of the first wave at the beginning of the year. It won't be any easier for Wizards of the Coast to assert themselves in the trading card game market.
This should be achieved, among other things, with the so-called “Universes beyond”, waves of content that primarily focus on well-known franchises. The Lord of the Rings, for example, already existed, as did Dr. Who or recently Jurassic World. However, Wizards of the Coast are bringing out the big guns with a crossover between Magic the Gathering and Marvel.
Since its takeover by Disney, Marvel has become a brand that is used in many areas and is no longer focused on comics and toys or films.
The crossover should particularly appeal to comic fans and newcomers. Despite its already large community, Magic the Gathering becomes even more of a product that can appeal to the masses.
Wizards of the Coast announced the cooperation with a teaser. You don't see any maps in it, at least no illustrations. The live-action video is more of an evocation of superhero magic in everyday life - and it is undoubtedly also about making Magic the Gathering fit for a young target group. The teaser leaves no doubt about that.
