In Millennia, the new turn-based strategy game from Paradox Interactive and C Prompt Games, players lead a nation according to their own ideas through thousands of years. They go through ten ages of humanity, from the Stone Age to the near future. In doing so, they unlock new technologies, ways of life and perhaps alternative pasts.
C Prompt Games is an American development team led by experienced strategy game developers Rob Fermier, Ian Fischer and Brian Sousa. Motivated by their passion for deep, systems-based games with high replay value, they bring their experience from working on many acclaimed real-time strategy games (including Age of Empires II, Age of Mythology, Starcraft II and Orcs Must Die) to the 4x turn-based game Millennia . The game combines the genre's familiar comforts with fresh, new gameplay, allowing players to create their own stories from history.
Journey through ten ages
Players lead their people through ten historical eras, leading their timeline into the unexplored alternate history of a changed age or into the dangers and possibilities of an age of crisis. Each era has its own rules, units, buildings, goods and challenges that can change the course of history. Players must decide what they want their nation to be famous for by choosing a national character and using the associated bonuses to achieve their goals. As the story progresses, multiple national characters can be combined to create a unique civilization in each game.
Players invest in six different domains that influence their nation's focus: Exploration, Government, War, Diplomacy, Technology and Art. The better they equip each domain, the more their nation can benefit from the domain's unique capabilities. From conquering new territories to establishing new governments, from spreading religions to strengthening armies, everything depends on mastery of domains. Players build their economy to support their strategy. You collect raw materials and then build upgrades to refine basic goods such as logs or iron into wood, paper, books, ingots, tools or weapons. These are specialized products that make it possible to improve the economic engine and adapt it to the needs of history.
Players can customize their warfare by combining individual units into powerful armies. Each unit influences the capabilities of its army, allowing for a variety of different strategies. If the player becomes involved in a conflict, he can follow the action via the Combat Viewer, which shows the battle progress and details on the performance of the various armies.
Discover natural monuments, build pyramids, compete in space, finance expeditions, survive plagues, use diplomacy to your advantage, defeat barbarians, unleash innovations, deal with alien visitors, rule underwater cities, fight dogfights and master many other historical content.
Millennia is scheduled to be released in 2024.
