Up until now, apart from the Cerebria card game, Mindlash Games has only offered highly complex expert games. There was an announcement yesterday that changed that. Not only was a novelty announced for SPIEL, but a whole new product line. The series, which goes by the name of Mindclash Play, is said to be significantly less complex than the titles that Mindlcash is otherwise known for, such as Anachrony, Trickerion or Cerebria.
Mindclash Games break new ground. With Septima, Voidfall, Perserverance Episodes 3+4 and transhumanity four "classic" titles have been determined. These are usually complex. Yesterday there was the announcement of a new product line including the first game from it. Easily (more) accessible games will be published under the Mindclash Play label in the future. The first title is the "star" of the series. It's about stars and the images they form.

The level of complexity cannot, of course, be precisely determined at this time. But it is certain that the game will be easier than the previous Mindclash titles. There wouldn't be as much air upwards either. That's why the topic goes high. The players are astronomers who want to discover the sky and understand the constellations of the night sky. They collect and pay stardust to mark stars with their pen, discover and collect constellations, and use the bonuses and abilities of the constellations they discover. All of this earns them glory, and whoever has the most glory at the end of the game wins the game.
The game runs in simply structured moves. There is an optional skill phase, the action phase, and a discovery phase that can be triggered in either of the previous two phases.
In the skills phase, abilities of your active constellation cards can be used. After that they are exhausted. However, they can be made available again during the course of the game. At the end of the game there are only points for active constellation cards.
In the action phase you have two choices: observe or rest. When observing, you can mark an undiscovered star on the constellation cards for every stardust you spend. If one of the stars is the brightest of the respective constellation, one gains additional wisdom.
If you choose "Rest" as an action, you fill your bag up to the limit with stardust. In addition, all cards corresponding to the element the sphere marker is on are activated again. At the end of the rest, the sphere marker moves one space.
If the last star of a constellation was marked in the course of the turn, this is considered to be discovered. The active player is the discoverer of this constellation. The other players who have also marked stars on this card receive one of the bonuses of their choice printed on the card for this “help”.
The search is over
The game ends as soon as the end card appears in the draw pile. Now there are points for the highest bag and card limit reached, remaining stardust, marked stars on constellations that are still in the middle, active constellation cards and for the elements on all of your own constellations.
The Astra It is a game for 2-5 people. For the 2-player game there are some minor additional rules to keep the interaction high. The game is suitable for ages 10 and up and lasts between 40 and 90 minutes. A German edition has been announced for early 2023. The English edition will be available from mid-October or can be obtained directly from the SPIEL along with promo cards.
