With The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, fans are presented with a title from the Zelda series that does a few things differently. The sales figures so far show that the idea has been very well received.
Anyone who knows the history of the games from The Legend of Zelda universe could have predicted it: The new entry “Echoes of Wisdom” for Nintendo Switch should be a hit. The sales figures published so far indicate exactly that. While it was initially unclear how well the conceptually changed adventure game with the new gameplay approach would be received by fans, it is now clear: things are going well for the princess.
New Zelda game also good for German retailers
There was some criticism at the beginning, which was mainly due to severe frame rate drops Overall, however, the feedback on the game was extremely positive. The developers certainly had a successful start, as sales figures from Japan now show. According to them, the game sold just over 23 copies in Japan as a boxed version in the week from September 29rd to 200.000th (200.121 to be exact). This does not include digital sales, which are not negligible. However, there are no official figures from Nintendo yet.
For comparison: The visually similar Zelda: Link's Awakening achieved just over 140.000 sales in the country of origin of the game series in its week of release. A further comparison with Skyward Sword HD and Breath of the Wild shows how successful the title is - both titles sold fewer than 200.000 boxed copies in the week of release. The leader remains The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom with 1,12 million games sold - which is probably due in no small part to the quality of its predecessor.

German retailers are also benefiting from the current strong line-up of new products for the Nintendo Switch: EA Sports FC 25 and The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom have formed such a powerful combination that we can now look back on the strongest sales week of the year in the German video game trade. This is also shown by data from GfK Entertainment.
The success of the new Zelda game shows how well Nintendo's own brands regularly perform in games from the moment they are released. This in turn has a positive effect on the sales figures of the consoles, which therefore do not have to shine with pure technical power, but also cement their status as a good entertainment product. The Legend of Zelda is one of the most successful series in the industry: over 152 million copies of the game have been sold across all platforms.
