This was apparently a big surprise for an Xbox fan: At Walmart in the USA, the new Xbox Series X in the “1 TB Digital Edition (Robot White)” edition was already on sale before the official retail launch.
The currently most powerful Xbox console will be officially available in a white version from October 15th. A Reddit user said that he snapped it up immediately after making the surprise discovery in a Walmart branch in the United States. At the same time, he refers to what is probably the biggest criticism of the new Xbox: the console has no disc drive. He says it is "100 percent" digital, so he is not worried about the missing disc drive. The appearance of the Robot white edition is beautiful - and the buyer has the feeling that the new Xbox is cooler in operation than the previous model.
Discussions about Xbox Series X without drive
Walmart has the new Xbox apparently put on sale too early. It's no news that some retailers aren't always so strict about the official sales dates of games. Especially when it comes to highly sought-after goods, they like to bring the launch forward by a few days. However, this is rarely the case with hardware - so the early release of the "Xbox Series X - 1 TB Digital Edition (Robot White)" is actually a surprise.
As proof, Reddit user “MikeyGwald” posted a photo of his new purchase on the Xbox channel:
Microsoft announced the console back in June, alongside two other models: the Xbox Series X Galaxy Black, which has a much more striking design and comes with a drive and 2 TB of storage, and the Xbox Series S with one terabyte of storage. All three consoles will officially hit the shelves in Germany on October 15.

Xbox Series S - 1 To - Robot White * | 349,99 EUR |
Due to the early release, at least in the USA, some fans should now have the new Xbox consoles at home. It is not known exactly which store the Reddit user bought the console from. However, the photo has now led to discussions, because not every fan of the Xbox Series X is happy with the design without a drive. "It looks strange without the drive bay," writes one user. Otherwise, nothing has changed from a purely technical point of view. It is unclear whether the new Xbox Series X actually runs cooler during operation. In this specific case, it could simply be that the temperature depends on the console being new - i.e. dust-free.
The official launch of the three Xbox Series consoles will ultimately show how well the models are received by fans. With these three models, Microsoft has not reinvented the consoles, but has simply changed them in detail.
