The Playstation 5 Pro was recently released, but there are certainly fans who will ignore the interim step and only buy the Playstation 6 again. Now a first feature has apparently leaked out.
As the website "Tech4Gamers" reports, Sony has filed a new patent. And this is precisely what is supposed to indicate a first feature of the Playstation 6. In concrete terms, it is not a big deal: it is a rewind button. The idea is apparently relatively simple and self-explanatory: players should simply be able to rewind their gameplay scenes and also return to the live state.
Feature is technically already in use in games
The idea is not entirely new, there are already video games that use this kind of gameplay as part of the game: Deathloop, for example, or Prince of Persia - Sands of Time. Here, the developers naturally built this time feature in themselves and made it part of the game. Sony obviously wants to go one step further and would then be able to offer fans a real innovation.
The patent itself states that accessing the current gameplay while playing is difficult and requires a type of hacking. If such a feature were to be introduced for the Playstation 6, this alone would set the console apart from the competition. It remains to be seen whether this idea would ultimately prove to be useful. It may also be a nice but unnecessary gimmick that cannot actually be used in every video game - just think of the problem with competitive game titles.
Moreover, it is not even clear whether such a feature will actually be implemented. Registering patents and actually developing something marketable from them are two different things.
