In light of some rumors about a possible release delay for GTA 6, many fans may have been trembling - after all, fans of the successful video game series have been waiting for a successor for many years. Now publisher Take-Two has commented on the release - in its annual report.
There has been a lot of discussion about the release of GTA 6 in recent weeks. Rumors about a shift appeared, were by others unofficial sources rejected and in scattered again in a different formHowever, there have been no concrete details so far, which ultimately fueled fans' hopes of a punctual release - or at least a release within the previously stated time frame. Now, for the first time, there are really official details. And they come from Take-Two.
GTA 6: Release according to Take-Two in 2025
All the discussions about the release of GTA 6 are basically just a matter of months - with the video game expected to run for several years, that's hardly worth all the excitement, but fans of the hugely successful gangster game series naturally want to get their hands on the controller as soon as possible and throw themselves into new adventures. Weeks of hope and fear were on the agenda, because Rockstar Games could theoretically have reacted at any time and cooled down the simmering rumor mill with an announcement. Because that didn't happen, many players assumed that it was completely unclear whether GTA 6 would appear in the previously communicated release window or not.
A statement by Take-Two in its annual report is now causing joy: The publisher says that Rockstar Games is planning to release Grand Theft Auto VI in autumn 2025, i.e. in about a year. This should especially reassure those fans who were already expecting a postponement. Officially, the plan is still different.
Of course, the information in the annual report only reflects the plans that are currently valid. If there are problems with development or if Rockstar Games determines in the coming months that further work or fine-tuning is necessary, GTA 6 could still be delayed - then, taking the current plan into account, probably by a few months into 2026. Ultimately, only Rockstar Games itself can provide clarity, because no one is closer to the situation than the developers themselves.
However, such information is not to be expected in the near future. Rockstar Games will probably come up with general information about the video game or even a new trailer. This could also introduce the first features of the new offshoot of the popular series, as fans are also eagerly awaiting this.
