The blue hedgehog Sonic is celebrating its return to domestic living rooms and playrooms, but in a way that you might not immediately think of. In cooperation with the toy manufacturer Tomy, Sega is bringing the "Hedgehog" onto the market as a plush toy. More precisely: Club Mocchi-Mocchi plushies.
The toy manufacturer Tomy International has signed a cooperation agreement with Sega of America to bring the popular characters from the Sonic universe onto the market through the Club Mocchi-Mocchi line. The collectible plush toys come out at the right time, after all, the blue hedgehog is celebrating a milestone birthday this year.
Sonic the Hedgehog: Speed since 1991
Sonic the Hedgehog hit the gaming scene on June 23, 1991 with the release of Sonic the Hedgehog on the classic Sega Mega Drive and quickly became known for its superfast speed, signature style, and readiness for any form of adventure. Since his debut, Sonic the Hedgehog has become a prominent figure in pop culture, serving fans around the world with an extensive line of iconic video games, entertaining TV series and, more recently, with the critically acclaimed blockbuster Sonic the Hedgehog under her spell. With the continuation of the film and the new animated Netflix Originals series Sonic Prime slated for 2022, the blue whirlwind is truly unstoppable.
Sonic has taken many forms over the past three decades and will now be available in a new, unique plush variant. Developed under the Tomy brand Club Mocchi-Mocchi, Sonic will be available in stores - like the other offshoots of this line - "super soft", "super squishy" and "super cuddly" - that's how the plush versions of the characters from the Sonic the according to the manufacturer.
