Fans are eagerly awaiting The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the sequel to Breath of the Wild. The sequel will also be released for Nintendo Switch – it should be ready in May 2023. And so far, there doesn't seem to be any delay in the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

With triple-A games like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, punctuality is a thing. It is not uncommon for release dates to be announced, which are then simply cashed in again afterwards. This is still possible with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Nintendo recently set May 12, 2023 as the release date, but whether it stays that way remains to be seen.

Tears of the Kingdom might come out on time

After all, there is now reasonable hope for a timely release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, because the latest developments speak for keeping to the schedule. As the Japanese games site Gemtasu discovered, the Zelda successor was recently rated by the South Korean Game Ratings and Administration Committee (GRAC for short). You can simply nod off this as marginal information, but on closer inspection it is of enormous importance.

Classification processes usually only take place when a game is actually at least close to a release date. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom seems to be on track for a release without major delays.

The South Korean GRAC classifies The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom as a game for children aged 12 and over and certifies "mild violence" as an expression of an attack on living beings. Of course, the successor to Zelda can't do without fights. The South Korean classification corresponds to that of the USK for the predecessor The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild, which was released from 12 years.

Nevertheless, this is by no means proof of punctuality. Given the new information, fans can still be optimistic that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will actually be released on May 12, 2023 for Nintendo Switch.

The USK does not yet have The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom in its database; the entertainment software self-control recently tested games like Company of Heroes 3 or Scars Above.
