Epic Games bringt in regelmäßigen Abständen neue kostenlose Spiele in seinen Store. Gratis-Games gibt es inzwischen jede Woche. Vor mehr als drei Jahren hatte Epic Games seinen digitalen Shop samt Launcher auf den Markt gebracht – ein kräftiges Zugpferd sind die immer neuen Spiele, die Fans völlig kostenfrei abgreifen können. Immer donnerstags gibt Epic Games den neuen Gratistitel bekannt.
Die digitale Version des Brettspiels zum „Spiel um Throne“ gibt es noch wenige Tage völlig kostenlos im Epic Games Store. A Game Of Thrones: The Board Game Digital Edition ist eine Adaption, die sich eng an der Vorlage orientiert. Das Brettspielerlebnis wird im Grunde nur optisch aufgepeppt und für das Videospielsegment aufbereitet.
Gratis-Spiele im Epic Store
Immer donnerstags sorgt Epic Games über seinen hauseigenen Store für neue Gratis-Titel – selten, aber immer wieder mal, findet sich darunter ein Angebot für „zockende Brettspieler“. Derzeit gibt es mit A Game Of Thrones: The Board Game Digital Edition die Adaption des Original-Brettspiels von Fantasy Flight Games, allerdings ohne die beiden Add-Ons „Ein Fressen für die Krähen“ und „Ein Tanz mit Drachen“. Entgehen lassen sollte man sich das Angebot angesichts der hohen Qualität des digitalen Brettspiels nicht.
Vor allem jene Fans, die bislang mit der Anschaffung haderten, sollten zuschlagen. Das gilt ebenso für all jene Brettspiele, die unsicher sind, ob sie mit digitalen Gesellschaftsspielen überhaupt etwas anfangen können. Inzwischen sind die Umsetzungen moderner Brettspiele häufig mehr als gelungen. Das Brettspiel zu Game of Thrones ist gar ein Beispiel für ein besonders gutes Exemplar.
Epic Game Store: Liste aller bisherigen Gratisspiele
Im Epic Games Store erscheinen regelmäßig neue kostenlose Videospiele – im Laufe der vergangenen Jahre sind das bereits unzählige gewesen. Epic Games hat dabei nicht nur Ramsch auf dem Gratis-Tisch, immer wieder finden sich unter den völlig kostenfrei zum Shop-Account hinzubuchbaren Spiele auch AAA-Titel, so etwa Total War: Warhammer, XCOM 2, NBA 2K21, Star Wars Battlefront II: Celebration Edition, Jurassic World Evolution oder Watch Dogs. Gestartet hatte Epic Games die Aktion übrigens Mitte Dezemer 2018 – damals mit Subnautica als erstem Gratisspiel.

Die kostenlosen Videospiele abzusahnen, lohnt sich übrigens auch, falls man sie derzeit noch gar nicht spielen kann, weil man beispielsweise nicht die entsprechenden Hardware-Voraussetzungen erfüllt. Sollte das nämlich zukünftig mit einem PC-Upgrade der Fall sein, kann man weiterhin auf die einmal gebuchten Titel zurückgreifen. Die inzwischen über 100 Spiele hat man nämlich dauerhaft in seiner Bibliothek. Alles was es dafür braucht: Man muss sich einen kostenlosen Account anlegen.
